Fiametta: 14k recycled gold, lab-grown diamonds, and a seven-day window

$900 buys 1.00 ctw of lab-grown diamond in solid 14k — and you get seven days to change your mind. The metal, the natural-versus-lab-grown split, and why 15 of the brand's 27 press citations are its own claim.

Rough uncut colourless crystals on glassine parcel paper beside a dish of gold casting grain.

Fiametta's 3-Prong Martini Studs start at $900 for 1.00 ctw of lab-grown diamond set in solid 14k white gold. You have seven days from receipt to decide you were wrong about them.

Those two numbers are the whole brief. The pricing is real for what the material is; the return window is the second-shortest of the fifteen luxury brands in our files.

What they actually sell

Contemporary, gender-neutral fine jewelry in solid 14k recycled gold — roughly thirty core styles in yellow, white and black gold across multiple carat weights. Lab-grown-diamond studs, huggies, hoops and ear cuffs; signet rings, cigar bands and eternity rings; tennis bracelets and necklaces; link chains; bezel charms and pendants, with made-to-order and custom design offered. Alongside them sits a natural-gemstone line in Sri Lankan sapphire, emerald, ruby, spinel and antique stones. Merill Hollander founded the brand in New York in 2024.

Who makes it, and where

The about page says the pieces are designed in New York City and produced in small batches by "manufacturing partners in New York" and "a women-owned and operated atelier". Product pages say "Handmade in 14K recycled gold", and the FAQ says rings are made by hand in New York and that the lab-grown diamonds are CVD-grown using solar and wind power.

The metal and the stones

Solid 14k recycled gold only — 58.3% gold — in yellow, white and what the brand calls black gold. No plated or vermeil tier. The stones need reading carefully, because two origin stories run through one catalogue.

The diamonds are lab-grown. All of them, CVD, per the brand, which describes them as chemically identical to mined stones and grown by suppliers holding UN Climate Neutral Now certification. The Martini studs are stated as D/E colour, VVS+ clarity; the Double Link Earrings as F+ VS+. No grading laboratory is named against either figure — not GIA, not IGI, not AGI — so both grades are the brand's own statement rather than a report anyone can check, as is the "100% waterproof" line published alongside advice against chlorine.

The coloured stones are natural and mined. Known-origin Sri Lankan blue sapphires, emeralds, rubies, garnet and spinel, plus antique and heirloom stones; the 2026 Pride pendants use Moyo Gems fair-trade stones from women artisanal miners in Tanzania and Kenya. This matters, because the about page's line that no new mining occurs describes the diamonds. It does not cover the sapphires.

One ring makes the split legible. The Emerald Solitaire Signet Ring is $4,800 with an emerald-cut lab-grown diamond and $5,600 with a natural Sri Lankan sapphire. Same setting, same 14k, $800 apart — and the dearer stone is the mined one.

Signature pieces

The Martini Studs are the entry point. The Double Link Earrings are the convertible one: the bottom link detaches and becomes the Small Link Pendant, so one $6,800 purchase is two objects. The numbered Pride charms set a natural coloured stone in a lab-grown diamond halo, with 10% to the Ali Forney Center.

The terms

Seven days. A return must be requested within seven days of receipt. Only Noblemars, at five days, is shorter across the fifteen brands in our return-window reference. Items must be unworn, in original packaging and subject to QC inspection. Return shipping is deducted from the refund, the original shipping is not refundable, and refunds are issued within ten business days.

Custom and Canada are both final. Engraving, a change of gold colour and special-order sizes are non-returnable. Fiametta ships to the United States and Canada only — and Canadian orders are not eligible for return at all, so from Canada every purchase is a final purchase.

Lead times. In-stock pieces ship in two to five days, made-to-order takes six to eight weeks, custom is quoted at eight to twelve weeks in peak season, and changes are possible within forty-eight hours. The brand recommends a local jeweller for finger sizing and says many items can be resized; repair coverage runs one year for defects.

There is also no third-party consumer review history anywhere: no Trustpilot profile, no BBB listing, zero reviews on Sitejabber or Thingtesting.

The press record, read properly

Fiametta's press page lists twenty-seven placements. Twelve we could read at the outlet that published them. Fifteen we could not, and those are described differently.

Verified, and ours to state as coverage: Forbes published a profile of the founder by Yola Robert in November 2025. Harper's Bazaar and People both reported Olivia Rodrigo wearing Fiametta studs at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, Harper's Bazaar describing "white gold stud earrings from Fiametta". JCK's Pride-month piece by Karen Dybis confirmed the 10% donation to the Ali Forney Center and a 1.14 ct natural sapphire pendant at $7,740. Air Mail's Gracie Wiener covered the seven numbered Pride charms from $4,920, and Daily Front Row's Charles Manning made the $5,600 sapphire signet an editor's pick. Vogue Singapore included the brand in a 2024 feature on lab-grown-diamond labels, Nylon photographed the October 2024 launch dinner, and the founder appeared on Wharton's Marketing Matters podcast in July 2025 and in interviews with NouvelleBox, THE MVEye and the stockist Broken English. That is the twelve.

Not verified, and therefore the brand's claim rather than ours: the brand cites three Vogue placements — a jewelry-director gift list featuring the Double Huggies under $2,500, a ten-essentials shopping piece naming the Mini Link Huggies, and a 2026 Pride-parties round-up. It also cites Business of Fashion, Marie Claire, Variety, Esquire, Who What Wear twice, L'Officiel USA, Nylon's 2024 gift guide, The Cut, Fashionista and a Daily Front Row parties round-up. We have not read the brand in any of those articles and will not describe them as coverage those outlets published.

One citation deserves its own sentence. It is filed under WWD, and its link does not go to WWD: it resolves to fiametta.com/blogs/press/womens-wear-daily-wwd, the brand's own press page. A citation whose URL is the brand's own domain is the brand's claim by definition. So: the brand says WWD's red-carpet coverage included its studs, rings and tennis necklaces. We have no WWD article to point you at.

None of that means the placements did not happen. It means fifteen of twenty-seven are the brand telling you about them, and a "featured in" tally built from that page would be marketing rather than a record. One claim has been dropped outright: the brand's account of a Kristen Stewart red-carpet appearance names a venue no source in our file supports.

Stockists follow the same rule. Moda Operandi (53 listings at $440–$5,600), Broken English, TROVE and The Conservatory on Two are confirmable; goop, LOVE Binetti and MAD LORDS are brand listings, not confirmations.

THE PENNYWEIGHT VERDICT

Buy at full price — from stock.

The number is $900: 1.00 ctw of lab-grown diamond in solid 14k. Lab-grown stones carry close to no resale value and there is no secondary market for this label, so the only defence of that $900 is wear — which is exactly the case a seven-day window can survive, because you will know inside a week.

Leave the custom lane alone. Eight to twelve weeks in peak season, final sale, no named grading lab and no third-party review history is a lot of exposure on an object made for one person. And in Canada, treat every order as final, because the brand does.

Every figure above is drawn from fiametta.com's own published pages and from the named outlets, as recorded in our brand files on 4–5 September 2026. Grades and material claims identified as the brand's own are not third-party verified. Prices and terms change without notice. The Pennyweight buys nothing and accepts no gifted product.
