The Pennyweight

Clothing, Fit & Resale Desk

June Petrakis

June Petrakis runs The Pennyweight’s clothing, fit and resale desk. She reads size charts against garment measurements, notes fabric composition and where a piece is made, and records the terms that decide whether a purchase is reversible: the return window, who pays return shipping, and which categories are final sale.

The method is documentary, not experiential. June has not worn the clothes, and no article on this site claims she has. What she can do is show the numbers — a brand’s own measurements next to its own sizing advice, a listed retail price next to observed resale asks — and be explicit about which are the brand’s figures and which come from a marketplace.

Resale is the beat’s honesty test. Designer resale recovery varies enormously by brand, category and condition, and for some pieces — lab-grown stones especially — it is close to nothing. Where we have no resale data for a brand, we say we have none rather than implying a floor that does not exist.

We buy nothing, we accept no gifted product, and we earn a commission when a reader buys through our links.

Method note

Follows published sizing charts, return and shipping terms, and observable retail-to-resale price movement. No wear-testing, no gifted product, no invented owner interviews.

June’s beat

How the whole desk sources a figure is documented on our methodology page, and what we will and will not accept from a brand is on editorial standards.

The short list

Three entries from the ledger — the full ranking lives on the best-of pages.

Disclosure —some links on this page are affiliate links: when a partner programme is live we earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. It never changes the price you pay and it never changes a verdict. We buy nothing, we accept no gifted product, and we are not affiliated with any brand we cover. Where a programme has not been approved yet, we say so instead of linking.
