Jennifer Behr: 249 bridal SKUs, $282 to $3,125, and a 14-day clock

Hand-made in Brooklyn, with dimensions and gram weights published per piece — and a 14-day return window that starts at delivery, on a bridal range bought months ahead. Real prices by category, the materials behind them, and six verified press citations.

Loose baroque pearls, crystal beads, French veiling net and silk grosgrain ribbon on paper.

Two hundred and forty-nine of Jennifer Behr's 539 live SKUs carry a bridal tag, and they run from a $282 Voilette Headband to a $3,125 Raquel Tiara. The return window on all of them is fourteen days from the day the parcel arrives.

Those two facts sit badly together. Bridal accessories are bought months ahead — that is the point of them — and a fourteen-day clock that starts at delivery has usually expired long before the dress fitting where you find out whether the halo sits right. Nothing about the brand's terms is unusual by the standards of this category. The mismatch is between an ordinary return window and an extraordinary purchase timeline, and it is the single thing most likely to cost a buyer here money.

What they actually sell

Hand-made hair accessories and crystal-and-pearl fashion jewelry. The live catalogue runs 539 SKUs: roughly 290 jewelry pieces — earrings, necklaces, bracelets — and 213 hair accessories, covering headbands, tiaras and halos, barrettes, bobby pins, hairpins, ponywraps, headwraps, voilettes and veils, bows, combs, hats and brooches. The house launched in 2005 as a hair-accessory maker and added jewelry in Spring 2017.

The materials are costume materials at luxury prices, and it is worth saying so plainly because the price ladder does not signal it. Austrian crystal — 40 SKUs carry a Swarovski tag — freshwater and baroque-style pearls, semi-precious stones including aventurine, lapis, malachite, rose quartz, turquoise, amazonite, tiger's eye, mother-of-pearl and coral, plus silk, velvet, leather, French veiling and acetate. The metal is plated base metal: Moda Operandi lists pieces as 18K gold-plated brass, and the $3,125 Raquel Tiara uses a rhodium-plated base. No solid 14k or 18k gold appears in the catalogue, no diamonds, and no gemstone-origin claims.

What you are buying at $295 is hand assembly and design, not metal content. That is a legitimate thing to buy. It is just a different thing from what a $295 fine-jewelry price tag usually means.

Who makes it, and where

Brooklyn. The about page states the line is "crafted by hand in New York City" and that orders are packed and shipped from the Brooklyn studio "where everything is handmade". That claim is corroborated at product level rather than left as a slogan: the $3,125 Raquel Tiara is described as "Made by hand in New York", with the wire bent by hand. Headbands are silk-lined and wear-tested, and each product page publishes dimensions and a gram weight — the Czarina Headband at $450 is listed at 113g.

One caveat on the brand's sustainability language: it is self-reported and unaudited, and the claim of sourcing all materials locally sits awkwardly beside a catalogue built on Austrian crystal and French veiling. Treat it as the brand's statement rather than a verified fact.

Signature pieces

  • Tori Headband, $188 — the padded silk house best-seller
  • Voilette Headband, $282 — which the brand credits with starting "a movement of modern veiling"
  • The Czarina family — headband, ponywrap and hairpin, $228–$450, crystal-encrusted
  • Justine Earrings, $295 — emerald-cut crystal drops
  • Raquel Tiara, $3,125 — hand-bent wire referencing turn-of-the-20th-century royal tiaras

The terms

There are no affiliate links on this page. Every term below is the brand's own published statement, recorded 4–5 September 2026, not ours.

Returns. A return must be requested within fourteen days of receiving the order. Items must be unworn and unused in original condition, and you pay return shipping unless the item is faulty or the brand made the error. Our return-window reference sheet records that the fourteen-day clock here applies to the request, not to the parcel arriving back — a materially softer term than the brands on that board that require the goods to be moving inside the window.

Final sale. Anything bought at 60% off or more is final sale. Archive Sale purchases get a seven-day return window rather than fourteen. Sixty per cent is the highest of the discount thresholds on our fifteen-brand board; Gwynn's of Mount Pleasant and Noblemars both draw the line at 50%.

Shipping. US shipping is $10 flat, complimentary ground on domestic orders over $150. All orders process in three to five business days, and neither two-day nor overnight service is offered — which is worth knowing if you are ordering against a date. International ships to Canada and elsewhere at a flat per-country fee calculated at checkout, complimentary over $350, handled through Global-e with a separate international returns portal.

Sizing. Headbands are one-size and silk-lined, with dimensions and gram weights published on each product page. Custom and bespoke headpieces exist but are not sold as a standard catalogue option with a stated turnaround, so a commission is a conversation rather than a checkout.

Press, with provenance

Every press citation in our file for this brand is verified — which, across the fifteen brands we cover, is not the norm.

Forbes published two pieces in 2024: one on the brand's one-of-a-kind headpiece collaboration with New York Vintage, another on its collaboration with Julia Berolzheimer. WWD covered the Julia Berolzheimer summer capsule in 2024 and a Betsey Johnson collaboration in 2022. Town & Country covered the exclusive Mytheresa bridal capsule in 2023 and the brand's Black Friday sale in 2022.

The independent customer record is thinner than the press record. Trustpilot shows 2.6 out of 5 from only five reviews, and the brand hosts no customer reviews on its own product pages — so there is very little third-party feedback in either direction, and five reviews is not a base to draw a conclusion from.

Stockists give a different kind of corroboration: Net-a-Porter, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Shopbop, Moda Operandi with 37 items live when we checked, and Mytheresa's exclusive bridal capsule. Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendel were early stockists per the brand; Henri Bendel closed in 2019, and we did not verify current Bergdorf stock.

Comparable brands

Lele Sadoughi, Lelet NY, Simone Rocha, Alexandre de Paris and Twigs & Honey overlap most of this catalogue's $100–$500 core. Against the two other US luxury hair houses on that list, Jennifer Behr's differentiator is the specificity of the manufacturing claim — a named Brooklyn studio, corroborated at product level, with gram weights published per piece — rather than the materials, which are broadly common to the category.

THE PENNYWEIGHT VERDICT

Buy at full price — and open the box the day it lands.

The number is fourteen. Fourteen days from delivery to request a return, on 249 bridal-tagged SKUs, in a category bought months before the date it is for. A tiara ordered in March for a September wedding is unreturnable by April, whatever you discover at the fitting.

Full price is also the only tier that keeps the terms intact: at 60% off the piece is final sale, and Archive Sale drops the window to seven days. For a $188 Tori Headband worn weekly, the cost-per-wear case is easy and the terms barely matter. For a $3,125 tiara worn once, the terms are the entire risk, and the way to manage them is to order early enough to unbox immediately and decide inside a fortnight — not early enough that the fortnight passes while the box sits closed.

Prices, catalogue counts, materials, policy terms, press citations and review figures are drawn from Jennifer Behr's own published pages and product data, from the named stockists' own listings, from the named publications, and from Trustpilot's own record, as recorded in our brand files on 4–5 September 2026. Terms change without notice; confirm them on the brand's site before you order. The Pennyweight buys nothing, accepts no gifted product, and is not affiliated with any brand or retailer named here.
