Table

The table is the large flat facet on the top of a cut stone, the window you look through. Its width relative to the stone’s diameter is the table percentage, one of the proportions a cut grade takes into account. A very wide table can make a stone read larger face-up while returning less light; a narrow table does the reverse. Neither is automatically better.
