Bias Cut
A bias-cut garment is cut at forty-five degrees to the fabric grain so the cloth stretches and falls diagonally, producing the fluid, body-skimming drape associated with 1930s slip dressing. It uses considerably more fabric, which is part of the price. Bias garments hang and lengthen with wear, are unforgiving of fit errors, and generally need a specialist for alterations.
