What matters most here
- Solid gold over vermeil or plate for anything worn daily; know which you are being sold
- Ask for the gram weight, not just the karat — a light 18K chain can hold less gold than a heavy 14K one
- Prefer 14K for daily-wear rings: the harder alloy resists scratching better than 18K
- Divide price by realistic wears before you decide anything is expensive
