FAQ · Designer Clothing
When do designer sales actually happen?
The mainstream US markdown calendar runs on two seasons: spring/summer stock goes on sale from roughly late June, and autumn/winter from roughly late December, with second and third cuts following over the weeks after. Independent designer labels of the kind we cover often run far fewer markdowns than department stores — some hold price entirely and clear through sample sales or archive events instead. Two practical rules follow. First, if a piece is core to a label’s permanent collection, waiting rarely helps; if it is seasonal, it usually does. Second, check the brand’s own returns policy on sale items before you wait, because final-sale rules commonly tighten on marked-down stock. Where a specific brand’s sale pattern matters, we state what that brand publishes rather than generalising.
