Is designer resale a real way to get money back?

Sometimes, and much less predictably than resale platforms imply. Recovery depends on the label’s secondary-market demand, the category, condition, whether you kept packaging and documentation, and how patient you are — consignment usually beats instant payout by a wide margin but can take months. Independent labels without established resale demand often recover very little, and a piece with no comparable listings has no price signal at all. We only publish a recovery figure when we can point to observable listings, and we will say "no resale data found" rather than estimate. The practical move is to treat any resale value as a bonus in your arithmetic, not a discount you have already banked: run cost per wear at zero recovery first, then see what recovery would change.
